We love apps! Apps help you quickly get things done, connect with people, and access all kinds of information on your phone - without having to navigate through your browser. Here are some pointers on how to find, install, and use apps on your smartphone or feature phone.

Apps For Your Smartphone

On your Android smartphone, apps can be accessed through Google Play (formerly known as the Android Market). You can browse Google Play on your PC and send the download to your cell phone. Or you can browse directly from your mobile device.

From your mobile device:

  • Open your menu of applications.
  • Select "Market."
  • Search or browse for your desired Android app in the marketplace.
  • Follow instructions to install the app.
  • Once installation is complete, you will be able to locate the new app in the main menu of your applications.

Apps For Your Feature Phone

On your feature phone, apps can be downloaded through BREW. BREW services are available exclusively on the nTelos network and approved data roaming partner networks. Sign up for BREW data packages by calling 611 from your nTelos Wireless phone.

Download BREW Apps:

  • From the main menu screen, select the BREW option.
  • From the BREW menu select the shopping cart icon to enter MobileShop.
  • BREW will connect to the server to access the application catalog.
  • Momentarily, a list of categories will display. Select a category.
  • You will now see all of the applications available in the category you selected. Make a selection.
  • Pricing options will appear. Make a selection. The application will download directly to your device over the air.

Launch BREW Apps:

  • Select the BREW option from the main phone menu.
  • You will see the MobileShop option and icons for all of the applications downloaded to the device.
  • Select the application icon and you are ready to use your application.

Disable/Restore BREW Apps:

  • When your phone’s memory starts to become full, you may get a message that you need to temporarily disable an application in order to make enough storage space for the new application.
  • The phone will select an application to be temporarily disabled.
  • Select "Proceed" in order to disable the application. (This will reduce the file size while the application is not being used).
  • When you are ready to use the application again, you can restore the application. Select the icon for the application. 
  • You will then be presented with a message that states “This application was disabled to save space. Would you like to restore it?” 
  • Select "Yes" to re-download the application at no additional purchase cost. (Data usage charges will apply).

Remove BREW Apps:
If applicable, monthly subscription charges will be removed from bill when certain BREW apps are removed completely.

  • From the main menu screen, select the BREW option.
  • Select "Settings."
  • Select "Manage Apps."
  • Select the application you want to remove.
  • Select "Cancel Subs or Remove." Notice the confirmation message that appears before completely removing the application from the handset. Choose "Yes" or "Accept."

For select handsets featuring mShop:

  • From the main menu screen, select the BREW option.
  • From the mShop storefront screen, press the right directional key to select the “My Apps” or “My Stuff” tab.
  • Select the application you want to remove.
  • Select the “Options” tab.
  • Select “Unsubscribe or Delete”. Notice the confirmation message that appears before completely removing the application from the handset. Choose “Yes”. ​
