nTelos Enhances Pavilion Experience With New Smartphone App

August 18, 2011

nTelos Wireless, known for providing high-speed, dependable nationwide coverage and the best network satisfaction guarantee in the industry, today announced a free mobile application for Android smartphones and iPhones. The application was created specifically for the nTelos Wireless Pavilion in Charlottesville and offers users basic concert information plus enhanced social media benefits, which encourage sharing, chatting and interaction with other event attendees.

The free mobile app, which was developed by nTelos Wireless in partnership with the Pavilion and WillowTree Apps, Inc., will work on any Android smartphone or iPhone no matter what wireless provider the customer uses. It is the first application of its kind for the nTelos Wireless Pavilion. Willow Tree Apps, Inc., a mobile applications design and development provider, located in Charlottesville, built the application to include interactive social features that enhance the user experience at the venue.

“The app is truly remarkable, and represents three local companies working together and utilizing wireless technology to create a unique and exciting user experience,” said Conrad Hunter, President of nTelos Wireless. “It’s one thing to go to an event and have a great time, but the capability of sharing the excitement and what’s happening in real-time with others at the venue sets it apart from other applications. We are extremely pleased to offer the app to our wireless customers and to venue attendees at no charge.”

The application is available for free in the Android Marketplace and iTunes App Store and can be found by searching “nTelos Pavilion.” Once installed, users have access on their mobile phone to:

  • The nTelos Wireless Pavilion concert schedule and information about upcoming events
  • Ability to purchase tickets to upcoming events
  • Real-time social media interaction with other people attending an event
  • Mobile JumboTron, a real-time mechanism for streaming images and message postings from people attending an event
  • The Pavilion’s Twitter feed
  • Ability to have private, online conversations with others attending an event
  • General information, such rules and regulations of the venue

“We are excited to have a new way to allow us to interact with our patrons and our patrons to interact with each other around the events at the Pavilion”, says Kirby Hutto, general manager of nTelos Wireless Pavilion. “It’s great that our partners are able to help us create and offer this type of tool to enhance the experience.”

The app will be promoted via signage at the Pavilion that contain QR Codes directly linking individuals to the app. All three companies will also promote usage via Facebook and Twitter, as well as other marketing avenues. “The nTelos Wireless Pavilion app is truly groundbreaking among music venues,” said Tobias Dengel, CEO of WillowTree Apps, Inc. “While getting real-time information about upcoming shows is clearly valuable to fans, the real innovation is creating a unique mobile experience among the attendees. This app shows how the Smartphone revolution will be enhancing all our lives, and how nTelos remains at the forefront of these changes."
