How do I know if I qualify for Broadband XL service?

How do I setup my Internet email account on Broadband XL?

When you contact nTelos Broadband Sales and Services for DSL service, the representative can set up email accounts, usernames and passwords for you. You may also contact general Customer Service to make any changes to or add new email accounts.

How can I upgrade the speed of my Broadband XL service?

Do you supply the Broadband XL modem?

A modem is not required for Broadband XL service. See next FAQ for more information.

How do I connect Broadband XL?

When Broadband XL is installed, our technicians can install a primary Ethernet (Cat 5) wire routed from the Optical Network Termination (ONT) box, the device installed on the outside of your premises/residence attached to the fiber service line. The Ethernet wire connects directly into your computer or your router. See next FAQ on networks.

Can I set up a network for my Broadband XL connection?

You can connect your own wired or wireless router to the primary Ethernet (Cat 5) wire for use with Broadband XL. nTelos nHome Solutions offers an nTelos supported wireless/wired router and wireless devices for your PC or laptop when needed. Click nHome Solutions for more details.

What can I do if my Broadband XL service appears to be down?

Check the Ethernet wire to your computer or router to be sure it has not been damaged and is firmly connected. If you use a router or switch, try to connect the primary Ethernet wire directly to your computer, bypassing the router. If you continue to experience problems, Contact nTelos Internet and Broadband Technical Support

How can I address a security issue with my Broadband XL service?

Other than our email spam and virus control, nTelos Broadband XL service does not include a firewall or other security protection. Security is the responsibility of the customer. Companies who provide Local Area Network (LAN) Services often have a variety of security solutions available for a fee.

Can I access my Broadband XL email account(s) via dial-up?

Your email account is accessible from any Internet enabled computer via this website on our nTelos.net Email page. If you do not have access to another Internet enabled computer while away from your DSL enabled computer and you do not already have a nTelos dial-up account, you may want to purchase a dial-up account from nTelos at an additional charge. Contact nTelos general Customer Service for details.
